DRAMA

Instructor: Mrs. Diana Torres

Theatre arts class promotes critical and creative thinking, teaches life skills, and develops in the students an understanding of other people. It also promotes intuition and examination and implementation of conflict solving, help in focusing the emotions for controlled use and disciplines the voice and body for a purposeful use.
All grades are guided to write dramatic material according to their level and based on their experiences. In addition to the social skills that theatre promotes our program has being design to discover and develop the acting skills of our students.

Students in grades K-3 explore the theatre discipline through creative drama, which include teacher-guided and group activities that will lead them to independent practice on stage. Grades 4th through 8th will increase their skills in sophistication learning acting techniques, theatre history and terminology, and will participate in formal performances open to the public and conducted by professional staff members.

Selected students in grades K-3 will be able to demonstrate their talent in some of the school-hours performances, while the theatre major students in grades 4-8 will participate in evening performances throughout the year. The teacher casts the plays by in-class auditions.
